What is Experience Design?

At the University of Indianapolis, Experience Design is a cutting-edge interdisciplinary program which focuses on researching designing and implementing interactive experiences. Through this program, housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, you can take a 30-hour Major, an 18-hour Minor or a 12-hour stand-alone Concentration. You can sample this program by taking EXD 101, Introduction to Experience Design, which will also fulfill your social inquiry core requirement.

What is Experience Design (XD)?

Experience Design incorporates methods and interpretations drawn from various academic disciplines to create a broad-gauge design perspective emphasizing interactive and multisensory experiences. An Experience Designer designs, creates and manages experiences — real and virtual — for any target audience. XD promotes and focuses engagement, learning and discovery.

What can you do with credentials in Experience Design?

With a degree in this field, the possibilities are limitless! Classes in this program teach you theories, methods and applications of research-based design which can be attached to any field of study. Some examples of careers which may incorporate Experience Design include:
