Interdisciplinary Minor in Applied History

This program enables undergraduate students at the University of Indianapolis to explore a variety of career paths related to Applied History. Applied History is a general term which can include a number of interdisciplinary applications across the majors and programs of the university. The minor emphasizes "hands-on" techniques and applied learning methods.

Program Requirements

18 credit hours are required for the minor and include the following 3- credit hour courses:

The remaining 3 credit hours are derived from a flexible menu which allows students to choose an area concentration within the Minor.

Options include:

  1. An additional 3-hour internship at an approved site.
  2. A 3-hour course in a cognate discipline that emphasizes applied methods.
  3. A 3-hour international internship with a partnering institution. *
  4. * An international internship may require a different course sequence to prepare the student for the experience. In this instance, HIST 218 may be replaced by another course that deals directly with the country in which the student will be working as an intern.
